Nellis Air Force Base is located 8 miles northeast of Las Vegas, Nevada. Nellis AFB regularly conducts large-scale aerial advanced combat aviation training exercises called "Red Flag Exercises". Nellis AFB is also home to the U.S. Air Force Thunderbirds demonstration squadron. Finally, Nellis AFB manages the Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR) airspace.
