Spartanburg County has more than 30 independent fire departments providing fire suppression and rescue service to citizens. All FDs are dispatched on the County Fire Dispatch channel. All departments respond and conduct operations on the County Fire Ops channel. If an incident commander requests a Tac channel for an  incident that involves many responding units or extended operations, one of the 4 County Fire Ops channels is assigned. Many departments have private talk-around channels; most of these operate in simplex mode. Spartanburg City FD, and any county FDs responding as mutual aid to calls within the City, use the City Fire Ops channel. A small number of FDs, Emergency Management and Hazmat use talkgroups on Palmetto 800. 

Spartanburg County EMS is a division of Spartanburg Regional Medical Center and provides all emergency medical service in Spartanburg County. They operate exclusively on Palmetto 800 - one Page/Tone-out talkgroup, one primary and one secondary dispatch talkgroup, one Ops talkgroup, and a separate Hospital "Med" (Ambulance to ER) talkgroup for each hospital. The "340" Med frequency is used by ambulances from other agencies to contact ERs in the County. 

Many Spartanburg County government agencies - including Parks and Rec, Building Codes, and Roads and Bridges -  use mobile phones instead of two-way radios and cannot be monitored. Roads and Bridges does use their VHF repeater occasionally, and Solid Waste uses their VHF repeater daily for status reports from convenience centers. Spartanburg County Jail (operated by the Sheriff's Office) uses talkgroups on Palmetto 800 for prisoner transport and Courthouse security.

Spartanburg Regional Medical Center Security uses talkgroups on Palmetto 800 and their parking assistants use their VHF repeater for operations. Maintenance workers at the Mary Black campus use a UHF repeater for operations. No other operations at Spartanburg Regional Medical Center uses two-way radios.

Spartanburg City FD is dispatched on the County Fire Dispatch channel, but conducts operations on the City Fire Ops channel. 

Spartanburg City PD uses talkgroups on Palmetto 800 exclusively.

Campobello PD is dispatched on the Spartanburg County Town PDs talkgroup on Palmetto 800.

Chesnee FD uses the County Fire Dispatch, Ops and Tac channels listed above.

Cowpens FD uses the County Fire Dispatch, Ops and Tac channels listed above.

Cowpens PD is dispatched on the Spartanburg County Town PDs talkgroup on Palmetto 800.

Duncan FD uses the County Fire Dispatch, Ops and Tac channels listed above.
