BC Provincial Natural Resource Sector Radio System (British Columbia)
Last Updated: March 18, 2026, 23:25 pm UTCThis system documents the British Columbia government’s Natural Resource Sector Radio System (NRSRS), a province-wide two-way radio network used primarily for wildfire suppression but is also utilized by other natural resource agencies operating throughout the province.
All repeaters and simplex channels operate using analog FM and can be heard across much of British Columbia. Most repeaters are solar-powered and installed at remote mountain-top sites to provide wide area coverage.
Repeaters are organized into zones and can be linked to fire centre dispatch facilities. Portions of the network can be dynamically connected or separated depending on operational demand and radio traffic during the wildfire season.
From the BC NRSRS web site;
Approximately 85 percent of the province is covered by the B.C. government’s natural resource sector two-way radio communication network. Radio communication is essential for natural resource workers who are fighting forest fires, conducting forest safety checks or need assistance while in the field.
