On July 1st, 2024 Chatham Emergency Services (formerly Southside Fire) facilitated the transfer of its former fire department services and personnel to Chatham County Fire Department. Chatham Emergency Services continues to operate solely as a community owned Non-Profit organization providing EMS (ambulance transport) services and is the countywide, exclusive 911 emergency and non-emergency ambulance service in Chatham County.
