The Suburban Division operates regional bus routes and trolleys, as well as the Metro rapid transit rail line between Upper Darby 69th St Terminal and the Norristown Transportation Center. The Metro has been known by a variety of names over the years, but was founded as the Philadelphia & Western Railroad in 1907. Metro operations were on SEPTA's 500MHz trunked system until September 2025 when they switched to analog UHF.
