The current system will go from Motorola Single Site Smartnet system into a Motorola Smartzone System. Some of the existing frequencies will be used and some will move +/- 12.5 creating 2 channels for the North/South Zone. The County Jail campus system will utilize 7 new frequencies that are unusable in this market, bringing the total number of frequencies to 42. 10 North Smartzone Simulcast, 10 South Smartzone Simulcast, 12 at the Jail campus, and 5 2-channel low power IR () users. The 5 new IR sites will localize campus type in-building radio traffic at several different County Courthouses. The jail will have 6 low power campus frequncies and 6 wide area frequencies. This will complete the County's radio system modifications.

This radio system is used to provide dispatch services, life & property protection for the County of Cook, including the Cook County Sheriff's Department, Department of Corrections, Boot Camp, Court Services, Facilities Management, Department of Community Services and Invtervention, Vehicle Services, Custodial, Police Department, Adult Probation, Juvenlie, Forest Preserve Police, Highway and the States Attorney office.
