The Alabama Forestry Commission operates a statewide analog VHF radio system that its personnel use for routine communications, fire prevention, and suppression operations. The system consists of one or two repeaters located in each county, which are linked back to Montgomery Central Dispatch via control stations located on Alabama Public Television towers.
AFC divides the state into six regions: North, North West, North East, East Central, South West and South East. All regions except for East Central and South East have two or more communications zones with counties that share the same frequencies and repeater output DPL. Each repeater has a different input DPL.
South West region has three communications zones.
