Using scanner with new HP Envy laptop

Let me get this right. You connecting 396xt via one of the USB ports, running any scanning software eg. FreeScan. Do Envy recognize scanner connected,

What's a good airband scanner

Maybe Amigo, but it is a very good value for the $$$$ and has very fast scanning rate.
Then if scanner don't have 8.33 and 12.5 steps people will comp
