6/25/15 - RIA Upgrades to P25 System Link  

To keep Rock Island Arsenal (RIA) current and capable of meeting communications requirements on the base and beyond, the U.S. Army contracted with RACOM and Harris to install a new Project 25 (P25) trunked radio system.  “Most of their communications have been on our network, and we provided their current 9-1-1 dispatch radio and other equipment, so they’re very familiar with our systems,” said RACOM’s Senior Manager Technical Support Sam Fleege.

The new UHF system will include Harris Unity mobile radios with both P25 and EDACS functionality that will unify all LMR users on the island and continue the tradition of seamless interoperability with other Quad City-area fire and emergency services.
