This system is an ASTRO Digital Smartzone system using APCO-25 digital modulation. Currently, this system shared a central controller serving the City of Hopewell on 800 MHz, and a majority of the Tidewater Area Military Facilities on 400 MHz, including Norfolk NOB.
This is one of the very few trunked radio systems in the country that support both 800 Mhz and 400 Mhz with the same controller (and system ID).
