City of Springfield

Ohio Air National Guard

Tower and Fire operations are now provided by the City of Springfield.

The 178th FW has transitioned to a non-flying Reconnaissance/Surveillance unit under the National Air and Space Intelligence Center mission.

They will be remotely flying MQ-1 Predator drones.

269th Combat Communications Squadron


The Air National Guard base is intact and expanding to the land across the state highway. For base security reasons, the state route will be relocated north of the construction area and the base will take over the old state highway. A similar project is underway at WPAFB to relocate SR 444.
