Highway Patrol (OHP)

OHP uses two pairs of low band frequencies state-wide.  They call them Low Band "sides" rather than channels.    The cars use one of the frequencies in the pair and the base uses the other.  The cars can use the base frequency to talk around the repeaters where the dispatcher won't hear them.

These frequencies are linked to a series of VHF and UHF repeaters. The mobile relays repeat the cars.  The base relays repeat the base. Different troops use different pairs to avoid interference, but any of the sides can be used statewide.

The following is the prgramming for low band radios in OHP cars:

Side 1 -- Receives  44.700, Transmits 44.700 -- Car to Car

Side 2 -- Receives 44.700,  Transmits 44.900 -- Car to Base

Side 3 -- Receives 45.220,  Transmits 45.220 -- Car to Car

Side 4 -- Receives 45.220,  Transmits 45.180 -- Car to Base
