Southern Idaho Regional Communications Center (SIRCOMM)

SIRCOMM covers Gooding, Lincoln, Jerome, and Twin Falls Counties. SIRCOMM is a regional communications authority, not a state agency.

The basic system is simulcast over seven, soon to be eight sites, with separate tac channels at each site. Tac channels are interspersed and not geographically divided into north, south or other major demarcations. There are basically two tac channels for law enforcement and fire ops, but fire ops also has several other tac channels used in higher traffic areas. New frequencies have been obtained, but are not yet in use. 463 MHz "Medcom" freqs are used as fire tac channels and possibly future law tac channels.

All repeaters utilize PL on input with input PL's different from the output PL's.

As of May of 2004, SIRCOMM has redesignated most of their frequencies in order to simplify and streamline operations for security and public safety reasons. Instead of having a set of frequencies dedicated to a specific operation, SIRCOMM administration reserves the right to change these frequencies at any given time accordingly without notice to best suit needs in any given situation. The City of Twin Falls (as of December 30, 2003) broke away from SIRCOMM and has established their own E-911 radio communications system.

Currently, plans are being formulated to migrate SIRCOMM over to the ICAWIN Statewide TRS, when it becomes operational in the counties they serve. New dispatch consoles will be installed, and all units will carry both radios until the system transformation is completed. Likewise, all radio equipment will be able to operate on 700 and 800 MHz as needed.
