Description:

If you're not a fan of the Uniden GPS kit and its clutter of cables, this is an alternative. This GPS is powered by rechargeable Li-ion batteries which provide approximately 48 hours of run time. The unit has a micro-USB charging port, and can be charged during operation.

When connected to a scanner, the unit automatically powers on and off with the scanner.

The unit does NOT include a cable.

For the HomePatrol and handheld scanners with 4-pin GPS ports, if you already have the Uniden 4-pin to DB9 adapter cable, you can use that. If you need a 4-pin to DB9 cable, you can request a cable for an additional $10, or purchase the Uniden adapter cable (https://www.amazon.com/dp/B007JYZL5O/), your choice.

For base/mobile scanners with a DB9 GPS port such as the 536 or 996, you will need a straight-through DB9 extension cable with one male end and one female end (https://www.amazon.com/StarTech-com-Black-Straight-Through-Serial/dp/B00A6GIV9K/). You can purchase them from many electronics or computer suppliers.

The unit can be powered and charged by the scanner, however the scanner must be modded in order to supply power to the GPS port. For handheld and HomePatrol scanners, the scanner only powers and charges the GPS when the scanner is connected to USB power. When the scanner is running on battery power, the GPS will also run on battery power. Modded base/mobile scanners such as the 536 or 996 will power and charge the GPS whenever the scanner is turned on.
