Description:

Eliminate the hassle and wiring clutter of the Uniden GPS kit by installing the GPS in your scanner! Scan on the go without having to manually toggle things on and off while driving.

For handheld scanners, the standard installation requires a 1" square cutout in the scanner case, which eliminates the use of the factory belt clip. There is an alternate option that does not require a cutout, but has poorer GPS reception. Installation includes a GPS power switch (to conserve power when GPS is not needed) and front panel GPS status indicator light.

Mobile scanner installation requires a cutout in the top of the case for the GPS module as shown. The module has visible GPS power and status indicators on the board, so additional status lights are not necessary.

The $75 for the installation is due up front, and charges for return shipping and any other work are due when the work is complete. The $15 shipping cost is an estimate, you will be charged actual cost for return shipping (USPS Priority Mail, with insurance).

If a 436 scanner does not have C1 installed, I will install it for an additional $5 unless the board does not have connections for C1, or instructed otherwise.

If your scanner requires service from Uniden such as clock or display repair, have that service performed by Uniden before having the GPS installed in your scanner.

This mod will void your warranty. I am not an authorized Uniden repair center.

Jon modded my 436HP with GPS and I am extremly satisfied. The mod works great and is extremely well thought out, and Jon's communication was excellent throughout the process! He even includes a professional looking manual with the finished scanner, and followed up after I received it to make sure I was completely satisfied. Highly recommended!

Very pleased on my GPS mod.  Jon was very upfront with the limitations of the module I chose (the "GMouse").  The quality of workmanship on the finished product was fantastic and looks OEM.  The scanner spends nearly all of it's time in the car and has endured all of the temperature changes that entails, though it is always out of direct sunlight.  In addition to my daily driving, I've completed two road trips with it and I'm about to complete a third, and the components are holding up very well.

Turn around was very quick and I was kept up to date throughout the process.  If I had another scanner, I wouldn't hesitate to send it to him.

Had Jon add the Internal GPS, C1 capacitor, and new display plexiglass on my heavily used 436. Turn around was very quick. I sent it to him on a Wednesday and received it back the following Wednesday.  Great communication about my options, and the price was very reasonable. My 436 works great! GPS gets a lock almost instantly and makes traveling and scanning a breeze.

 I would highly recommend!

I had Jonathan mod my BCD436HP with the internal GPS mod, twice, actually.  The first mod was with the GMouse GPS module, which worked very good, but shortly afterwards, Jonathan discovered the RYN25DI module, which worked just as good, and draws much less power.  He agreed to retrofit my GMouse modded unit for a very reasonable price, and with a very quick turn around time.  I'm very pleased with the quality of his work, and the performance of my scanner!

You can feel comfortable sending your baby off to Jonathan for his mods.  He'll take good care of the scanner, and you!

Jon modified my 436 back in June with GPS, the C1 fix and even removed my damaged display bezel (at my request). The fees are very fair for the work he does and his turn time (a couple days) was excellent!

In my opinion, the integrated GPS module is the only real solution for adding GPS to this portable and Jon's work makes its addition and use seamless.

Thanks Jon!

I contacted Jon via the e-mail address in his profile here but I haven't received a response. I suspect the address is out dated. Does anyone have his current email address?

Jon modified my 436 in June with the internal GPS.  He did a great job, with good communication along the way!  I appreciate all his efforts and think this service is definitely worth the price.  I may have Jon modify my second 436 as well.  Once you have the internal GPS you can never go back to the rat's nest of cables...

Jon modified my 436 as well.  He continued to research and found a better GPS alternative so I sent my scanner back to him to have him reokace the original work.  Both times he gave great communication and over the top customer service!!!!

Adding a GPS to my 436 has really increased the amount I use my handheld and would recommend this to anyone.  Have Jon make your 436 the way it should have been from the factory.  His work is steller to say the least.  Awesome job!!!
