I Know this is an Old Add But Man Almost 21 years ago when i got my ticket this was the hottest radio on the market and i Drove from New Paltz N.Y. to Newington Stopped at the A.R.R.L For Awhile and then went to the "Candy Store" Lentinni Communications and bought 2 of these 1 for me and 1 for my sister wb2sam Mine turned out to be a lemon of epic proportions Dead out of the box returned it the second one had no CTCSS returned third no display fourth started it charging and it caught on fire,NO fifth Lentinni's gave me a refund and sold me a yaesu for 80% off they felt so bad,but my sister had hers and used it up until a couple of years ago when it was stolen out of her car in Arizona but boy did this add bring back memories

I had a 580, and loved it. The only problem was bnc connector getting worn out internally, and externally from changing antennas. I would just buy another one. I wish Alinco would still make knobs for the volume/squelch control on their current ht's.
