With this modification, the GPS puck plugs directly into the scanner with no additional cables other than the cable between the scanner and GPS.

The modification has two parts:
1. The DB-9 male connector in the scanner is modified so that pin 9 supplies 5V to power the GPS puck.

2. The original connector on the GPS is removed, and replaced with a DB-9 female so it will plug directly into the scanner and be powered by the scanner, rather than by a separate 12V plug.

No other wiring is necessary after the modification is complete.

Both the scanner and the GPS puck must be sent for this modification. If you do not have a GPS puck, I can include one for an additional $35 that has the correct DB-9 female connector installed to plug directly into the scanner.

If your scanner requires service from Uniden such as clock or display repair, have that service performed by Uniden before having this modification performed on your scanner.

This mod will void your warranty. I am not an authorized Uniden repair center.
/apps/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=8647 Internal GPS Installation, Any Uniden GPS-Capable Scanner /apps/classifieds/showproduct.php?product=8621 Mon, 11 Sep 2017 07:56:46 -0500

by: jonwienke

Description:
Eliminate the hassle and wiring clutter of the Uniden GPS kit by installing the GPS in your scanner! Scan on the go without having to manually toggle things on and off while driving.

For handheld scanners, the standard installation requires a 1" square cutout in the scanner case, which eliminates the use of the factory belt clip on the 436. Installation includes a GPS power switch (to conserve power when GPS is not needed) and front panel GPS status indicator light.

Mobile scanner installation requires a cutout in the top of the case for the GPS module as shown. The module has visible GPS power and status indicators on the board, so additional status lights are not necessary.

The $75 for the installation is due up front, and charges for return shipping and any other work are due when the work is complete. The $15 shipping cost is an estimate, you will be charged actual cost for return shipping (USPS Priority Mail, with insurance).

If a 436 scanner does not have C1 installed, I will install it for an additional $5 unless the board does not have connections for C1, or instructed otherwise.

If your scanner requires service from Uniden such as clock or display repair, have that service performed by Uniden before having the GPS installed in your scanner.

This mod will void your warranty.
