**WHEELING-OHIO COUNTY /  BELMONT COUNTY  &  OHIO HIGHWAY PATROL   LIVE RADIO TRAFFIC INTERNET FEED**

******************************************************************************************************************************************
********************************************************************************************************************************************

This is a split stereo feed which means that there are two scanners in use- one scanner in your left speaker and one scanner in your right speaker....   If you choose to listen using a media player such as WINAMP, you can simply adjust the left-right balance control on your player and listen only to the side  you prefer. HOWEVER,  if you are using the radio reference web player,  there is no balance control thus you are forced to listen to both scanners unless of course you go to your computer's audio properties and adjust the balance there to suit your desired listening ...

~ENJOY~

This radio feed broadcasts the following:

(note: that during active incidents,  if  I am nearby,  I will modify both sides to include only the involved agencies...)

*******LEFT CHANNEL*******

  • Ohio State Highway Patrol (from Kirkwood MARCS)
  •
  • Post  #07 - St. Clairsville
  • Post  #41 - Steubenville
  • Post  #84 - Marietta
  • Post  #30 - Cambridge

This feed receives 95% of OSP Post 07's traffic and also usually carries either Post 41 or Post 84.  Quite often you will hear all three depending on what is going on in the dispatch center..... The Cambridge channel will pop in occasionally too;  their TG always associates with this tower each weekday morning starting around 6a...............   With the advent of consolidated dispatch centers,  it is difficult to tell who is affiliated with what post because everyone now calls in to "St Clairsville" or  "Cambridge"   instead of their post # like they always have in the past..

This is the feed you've been waiting for...  There is nothing on this channel but the OSP!!!    Most ems, medcorps, aircare, helpdesks and other annoying TG's have been locked out  but the radio is scanning in open mode so it is possible for a rogue MARCS user to stray into this towers coverage area.....................       The dialog on the Post  7 TG is often  very interesting and sometimes odd...    During the day  you may  hear comedians such as 685 joking about  any and everything...  During the afternoon shift,  you are bound to hear 1738 going enroute to the jail...    At night,  you will most likely hear the troopers trying to weasel their way out of having to patrol Monroe County----    Yes, for not being a huge metro area,  there is usually always something to hear here.

for deciphering  Ohio County fire dept apparatus, the following scheme is generally followed:

with x being the station number and y being succesive numerals beginning with 1

  • x-1 = fire chief
  • x-2 = asst. chief
  • x-3-(y) = fire captain(s)
  • x-4-(y) = fire lieutenant(s)
  • x-5 = 1st out ambulance
  • x-5-y = 2nd, 3rd out ambulance
  • x-6 = 1st out pumper truck
  • x-7 = 2nd out pumper truck
